They are wires of two metres and twenty centimetres long, which are able to, in these case, go round the neck twice. They can be made with round links (like the handmade ones from the past) or pear shaped links. As far as the weight is concerned, they can be thin (‘linha’ = line) or thick (‘soga’) and hallow. The string was the third gold of the young girl – the first were the ‘buttons’ and the second was the ‘contas’ necklace.
