‘Medalhas de Santos’

Saints Medallions

‘Senhora da Conceição’ – this is the favourite one because she is the Patroness of Portugal. They could be made of enamel with gold in the edges or be filled images, of baroque style, with a crown at the top and a wing to suspend in the string that started from the top of the crown.

‘Escapulário’ – it consists of a “Sagrado Coração de Jesus”  (= Sacred Heart of  Jesus) with a ‘Senhora do Carmo’ in the back part.

‘Milagrosas’ (=Miraculous) – with ‘Senhora das Graças’ at the front and an ‘M’ at the back, with a cross on top of it. They also have two ‘flamejantes’ (= flaming) hearts at the bottom and the image is surrounded by stars.
